Trailer Estates CERT Training

The Trailer Estates CERT team are made up of certified members of the community. Your CERT team members are trained in the following areas:
- Disaster Preparedness
- Medical Operations and First Aid
- Disaster Psychology
- Fire Safety and Utility Controls
- Light Search and Rescue Operations
- Terrorism
The training includes classroom, training situations and hands-on scenarios. There are higher levels of training for CERT members and a few residents of Trailer Estates have continued their education. Some have even been trained as instructors to train new Trailer Estates CERT members and trainees in other communities. Read our Introduction To CERT

 Sharon Denson leads a new February 2024 CERT class. A few short years ago Manatee County had nine CERT teams. Through training classes like these Manatee County has expanded its community teams to 19, a coalition of teams led by Sharon Denson.
 CERT in Manatee County expands its membership with 16 new graduates on November 18, 2023. They received certification from trainers Mary Lou Smith and Sharon Denson. Also assisting were firefighting members of the Cedar Hammock Fire District and communications by Tom Briggle, team leader of Trailer Estates CERT. We congratulate members of the Colony Cove community who will be starting their own CERT team.

The newest members of CERT completed training and graduated on April 12, 2022 presided over by Manatee County Emergency Management Chief, Steve Litschauer (center) at the Emergency Operations Center in Bradenton.

Trailer Estates will also train its residents on HAM radio communications. HAM radio communications are vital in a disaster that affects community wide outages. They provide a direct link to the Manatee County Emergency Operations Center. Tests are conducted in Bradenton every other month on the third Saturday.
