In a time of disaster HAM radio communications with the county are critical. Licensing with the FCC requires a test passage. This class from 6 to 7 PM on each of the days listed prepares the students for the test with a high rate of passage. A $5 fee is requested to cover the costs of materials that the instructor provides and can be used for reference after passing the test. He is a retired college professor with much experience teaching, email Dan Smith to enroll.

A fund-raiser for CERT, residents enjoy a full breakfast including made-to-order eggs, drinks and cinnamon rolls from 9 AM to 10:30 AM. A limited number of tickets will be sold at the Post Office for this event to be held in the north recreation hall. Look for sales of tickets on Facebook the week before.

CERT Training
February 18-20, 24-26

Training is open to any area resident that wants to be a trained Community Emegency Response Team (CERT) member. Your certification will be recognized nationwide. At the completion you will be issued a badge identification and CERT backpack. Training includes First Aid, search and rescue, light fire fighting skills and psychology in treating victims after a disaster. Instructors are trained in all aspects with sessions from experts in nursing and fire fighting from local fire districts. The training will be conducted at the Cedar Hammock fire training facility at 6601 53rd Avenue West in Bradenton from 10AM to 2PM each day. Complete the registration in order to be enrolled in this life-changing opportunity as a Neighbor Helping Neighbor.
